Global policymakers are now considering new laws concerning a wide range of issues concerning data policy beyond privacy, but that also implicate privacy law. These issues touch on the free flow of data, information exchanges in return for services, data producer rights, and open data. From this perspective, privacy and data protection are only a small part of a much larger area of law. This session will explore how international policymakers are integrating privacy and data protection issues within the “bigger picture” of data concerns.
